CNC Programmer

Location : Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam

Key Responsibilities :

  • Report to the Assistant Production Engineer and support fabrication operations through accurate CNC programming for turret punching, laser cutting, and future bend CAM processes.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure parts are programmed and produced in accordance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Generate accurate NC codes and determine tooling setups required for precise machine operation to produce sheet metal components.
  • Use CNC programming software to develop and optimize cutting paths for maximum material utilization, cycle time reduction, and productivity improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or operation issues, working with operators and supervisors to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a CNC program database for repeat jobs, ensuring proper documentation, revision control, and accessibility.
  • Prepare training guidebooks and provide technical guidance to operators on CNC machine setup, tooling, and best practices.
  • Liaise with Sheet Metal Designers and fabrication supervisors to ensure programs are practical, efficient, and aligned with shop-floor capabilities.
  • Participate in Industry 4.0 technology implementation to improve productivity, automation, and data integration within CNC processes.
  • Ensure CNC programming practices comply with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
  • Stay updated on the latest CNC programming software, tooling methods, and sheet metal fabrication technologies to continuously improve efficiency.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by management to support production and company goals

Qualification / Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in CNC programming, preferably in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming software for turret punching and laser cutting (experience with Bend CAM is an added advantage).
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, tooling, and machine operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering standards, and specifications.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot CNC programming and machine issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage CNC program databases and documentation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 requirements is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 applications and smart manufacturing concepts is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and operators to achieve fabrication goals
